About the Job
The Academic Coordinator of Youth Programs for the Mission YMCA is responsible for overseeing the Academic Link Day team and supporting each staff in the following areas: designing safe educational spaces that promote learning, incorporating strategies to manage classroom behavior and dynamics, integrating social emotional learning practices, ExCel QAP monitoring, and managing records in relation to grant requirements (CMS/EMS management systems).
The Academic Coordinator will additionally collaborate with the school administrative team and YMCA leadership at each of Mission YMCA’s elementary school sites (TK- 5th grade) to identify individualized academic goals per site. They will collaborate and connect academic-based community resources/organizations that align with each community’s goal. They will also track general fiscal management on a monthly basis and complete documentation as required by our grant support team.
The Academic Coordinator of Youth Programs demonstrates the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and is expected to maintain general knowledge of the youth development programs, fiscal management and reporting systems on a regular basis. This position requires that the staff be there ALMOST ALWAYS at the branch/office/site.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 + years of youth program experience including supervisory responsibilities
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and verbal/written communication skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Must be available Monday through Friday and be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Fingerprint clearance
- TB test clearance
- YMCA approved First Aid, CPR and AED certified (may complete upon hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- YMCA youth development experience
- SFUSD experience
- Budget management experience
- Bilingual in Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, or Mandarin
