Position Summary

Are you ready to inspire young athletes and help create a supportive and fun basketball experience? The YMCA of San Francisco is hiring Youth Basketball Referees for our Youth Basketball League (YBL). This is your opportunity to support youth development, foster sportsmanship, and contribute to a welcoming and inclusive community. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, interactive, structured, and well-supervised environment during game days. This role is scheduled to referee on Saturdays and/or Sundays, averaging 8-16 hours per week. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire YBL season.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Must be highly motivated to provide quality youth sports experiences
  • Must be a team player
  • Expertise of youth basketball
  • Must be available on weekends
  • Current YMCA approved CPR and 1st Aid certification (can complete upon hire)
  • Fingerprint background check clearance
  • TB Test clearance
  • Must be willing to participate in evaluations and supervision meetings as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience refereeing and coaching youth sports
  • Bi-Lingual skills in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, English/Mandarin strongly preferred

Pay Range

$25.00 to $30.00 Per Hour

Schedule

  • Season runs from December 1, 2024, to March 15, 2025.
  • Flexible schedule, with weekend availability required.
