Position Summary
Are you passionate about basketball and ready to make a difference in the lives of young athletes? The YMCA of San Francisco is looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Youth Basketball Gym Monitors! The YMCA Youth Basketball Gym Monitor plays a vital role in supporting the Presidio Youth Basketball League (YBL) and fostering a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for families and players.
As a Basketball Gym Monitor, you will be at the heart of our program, building meaningful relationships with families, assisting with gym operations, and ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved. In this role, you will prepare gym spaces for team practices, maintain equipment quality, and enforce safety policies with care and professionalism. We’re looking for individuals who are flexible, take initiative, and bring positive energy to every shift. You’ll work directly under the supervision of the Sports Coordinator, and your efforts will directly contribute to the success of our Youth Basketball League this season.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Must be highly motivated to provide quality youth sports experiences
- Must be a team player
- Experience working with youth and families
- Must be available some afterschool hours on weekdays, some weekends
- Current YMCA approved CPR and 1st Aid certification (can complete upon hire)
- Fingerprint background check clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise of youth basketball
- Bi-Lingual skills in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, English/Mandarin strongly preferred
Schedule
- This role will require an average of 5 hours per week of training and prep work during the month of December.
- Commitment to work throughout the whole Youth Basketball League season, from December 2024 to March 2025.
- Shifts are flexible and primarily during after-school hours, averaging 8-16 hours per week. Games will be on Saturdays and Sundays.
