Position Summary 

Under the guidance of the Workforce Development Program (WDP), the Workforce Development Transitional Coach (TC-WFD) collaborates with the WDP Director and a multidisciplinary team to deliver life skills workshops in partnership with local Community-Based Organizations and schools. The TC-WFD provides case management services to Transitional Age Youth (TAY) and adults, offering advocacy, resource referrals, and therapeutic support. 

Key responsibilities include developing individualized success plans, case management strategies, and transition plans. This involves conducting intake assessments, designing service plans, monitoring progress, and implementing retention initiatives. Accurate and timely documentation is required for all activities. 

This is a part-time position scheduled to work 15 hours per week.  

Job Responsibilities 

Career Guidance & Employment Support 

  • Assist participants with career exploration, job readiness, and academic support. 
  • Support Transitional Age Youth (ages 14–24) and adults in developing professional skills and achieving employment goals. 
  • Advise participants on program requirements, monitor progress, and track milestones for job or internship placement. 
  • Refer participants to appropriate support services within and outside the Stonestown Family YMCA. 

Program Development & Facilitation 

  • Design and implement engaging, participatory professional development and job preparedness curricula for in-person and virtual settings. 
  • Facilitate professional skills workshops tailored to Transitional Age Youth. 
  • Provide consistent and accessible support during professional development workshops. 

Collaboration & Case Management 

  • Collaborate with the Workforce Development Director and Aquatics Transitional Coach to support program goals. 
  • Provide one-on-one case management services for 8–10 youth clients. 
  • Prepare and organize case files for review by the Workforce Development Director. 

Program Administration & Compliance 

  • Manage and support the sign-in and sign-out process, ensuring timely follow-up. 
  • Administer assessments for grant-funded programs and analyze outcomes. 
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and assist with snack preparation and distribution. 
  • Manage program supplies, equipment, and facilities. 

Engagement & Community Partnerships 

  • Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts to engage program participants. 
  • Interact professionally with participants, employment partners, and the Program Director. 
  • Coordinate and participate in mandatory fundraisers, special events, and school-wide activities. 

Safety & Professional Development 

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of youth participants during all program activities. 

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • 2+ years of experience working with high school students or Transitional Age Youth (TAY), preferably in workforce development. 
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings during program hours. 
  • Strong skills in facilitation and classroom management. 
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in using data tracking systems, such as CMS, Salesforce, Workforce Central, or EMS. 
  • Knowledge of youth development principles and conflict resolution strategies. 
  • Experience collaborating with schools or community-based organizations. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including variations in ethnicity, socio-economic status, education, religion, sexual orientation, and generational perspectives. 
  • Current certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages. 

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

The work environment is branch and community-based, taking place in settings such as YMCA branches, schools, recreation centers, or other youth program locations. It offers the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of individuals, including youth, families, and staff members. The role may require exposure to different weather conditions during outdoor activities or field events. Some flexibility in working hours is expected, with evening and weekend shifts based on program needs. The ability to adapt to varied environments and work collaboratively with others is key to ensuring a positive and effective program experience.  

The physical demands of this role require the ability to remain active for extended periods, including standing, walking, and engaging in various physical activities. The position may also involve lifting and carrying materials or equipment, typically weighing up to 25 pounds. Flexibility in movement is required, as tasks may include bending, stooping, and reaching during activities. The role demands the capacity to respond quickly in emergencies, including providing physical assistance when necessary. There may also be occasions requiring physical activity such as sports, games, or other dynamic tasks that involve movement or agility.

Salary Description 

The Workforce Development Transitional Coach position offers a compensation range of $25.00 – $30.00 per hour. This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.
