Position Summary

As a Healthy Living Coordinator, you will inspire members to achieve their wellness goals while embodying the YMCA’s core values of authenticity, honesty, respect, and inclusivity. Under the primary supervision of the Healthy Living Director, the Healthy Living Coordinator will be responsible for creating an engaging and supportive environment through successful implementation of the branch’s Wellness Attendant and Group Exercise Dept. You will deliver impactful wellness programs that foster healthy living in both our members and the surrounding community. This position combines your passion for fitness and your commitment to providing exceptional service in a safe, supportive environment. 

Healthy Living Coordinator Job Responsibilities

  • Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, and risk management. 
  • Exhibit YMCA core values of authenticity, respect, honesty, and inclusivity in interactions. 
  • Develop, implement, and oversee health and wellness programs that align with organizational goals. 
  • Provide support and resources to members to promote healthy living and wellness practices. 
  • Coordinate schedules and manage program logistics, including staffing and equipment needs. 
  • Monitor program performance and member feedback to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Facilitate communication among staff, members, and supervisors to address needs, resolve concerns, and provide updates. 
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to programs, attendance, and staff performance. 
  • Support staff development through mentoring, training, and performance reviews. 
  • Stay informed on trends in health and wellness to continuously improve program offerings. 
  • Uphold the organization’s mission and values in all interactions and program initiatives. 
  • Work up to 20 hours in an administrative capacity and 20 hours in a direct service capacity through Wellness Attending and Group Exercise. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). 
  • Certifications: A nationally recognized Group Exercise Instructor certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire. New hires are responsible for covering the cost of certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in both administrative/customer service roles and group exercise instruction. 
  • Proficiency in teaching various health and fitness modalities. 
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong computer, written, and verbal communication abilities. 
  • Experience in hiring, training, and supervising staff.
