Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Mental Health Services, the Family Resource
Center Clinician (FRC Clinician) is responsible for performing therapy in a manner that is
consistent with the legal and ethical standards set by the professional field and the YMCA of
San Francisco’s mission. The FRC Clinician supports the ongoing development and
implementation of the Family Resource Center, ensuring equitable access to services within
the community. The FRC Clinician is responsible for providing culturally responsive and
trauma-informed mental health support to individuals and families, with a focus on
strengthening resilience and addressing challenges and a commitment to fostering an
inclusive and respectful environment for all individuals. This role requires strong
interpersonal skills to build trust and collaborate effectively with families and community
partners.

Job Requirements

  • Client Services & Counseling
    • Conduct client intake, screening, and interviews to provide counseling, case management, and connections to appropriate resources and services.
    • Provide individual, family, and group counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and referrals for all clients.
    • Facilitate interventions and referrals to service providers.
    • Facilitate one-on-one and group sessions with families and youth, addressing their specific concerns and goals.
  • Case Management & Resource Coordination
    • Serve as a liaison between families and local service providers, facilitating access to family counseling and support programs tailored to community needs.
    • Assist clients in accessing resources through city agencies, businesses, and community-based organizations.
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop Individual and Family Service Plans using evidence-based practices and culturally appropriate interventions.
    • Collaborate with Family Resource Center staff to deliver a holistic and coordinated approach to meeting family needs.
  • Clinical & Program Oversight
    • Meet with clinical supervisors for programmatic and clinical supervision.
    • Carry a clinical caseload that aligns with the number of hours in the clinic/Family Resource Center site.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client outcomes, service plans, and program data in compliance with organizational protocols.
    • Timely service reporting.
    • Complete all required safety and training certifications before the first shift.
  • Professional Development & Other Duties
    • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, Counseling or Psychology.
  • At least 1 year post graduate school, working with youth and their families
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards of practice, including child abuse reporting
    laws.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience providing services to individuals and families in
    community-based settings.
  • Active registration or licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
    (BBS).
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural,
    socioeconomic, and generational backgrounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain accurate
    and organized documentation.
  • Training and experience in trauma-informed care, conflict resolution, and the ability
    to manage challenging situations constructively.
  • YMCA-approved CPR and First Aid Certification (to be completed within 30 days of
    hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing evidence-based practices for family counseling and support services, including trauma-informed care

The Family Resource Center Clinician position offers a competitive hourly rate of $32.50 – $39.00/ Hour based on qualifications and experience.
