Position Summary
The Director of Inclusion and Peer Support Programs leads the development and implementation of inclusive and peer-based programs across the YMCA of San Francisco operating out of the Mental Health Service Branch. This includes overseeing the Inclusion Support Program—a staff development and relational training initiative that places Inclusion Support Specialists (ISSs) in all Y Youth Development programs—and directing the new Peer Parent Partner Program (4Ps) in San Mateo County.
This role ensures trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and equity-driven practices are embedded in all mental health and youth development services. The Director supervises the Associate Director of 4Ps, provides direct support to Peer Parent staff, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to promote inclusive environments for youth, families, and staff.
Job Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Strategy
- Lead the strategic growth and integration of the Inclusion Support Program across youth sites and camps.
- Provide overall direction for the Peer Parent Partner Program, including planning, training, supervision, and partner collaboration.
- Supervise the Associate Director of the Peer Parent Partner Program, providing coaching and professional development.
- Guide ongoing program evaluation, learning communities, and reporting for both funders and internal leadership.
- Represent YMCA programs in community forums, policy discussions, and countywide collaborations.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Coordinate with YMCA clinicians and Youth Development staff to promote consistent and effective inclusion and behavioral support practices.
- Collaborate with caregivers, educators, and partner organizations to align supports for youth and families.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and public systems to ensure coordinated services.
Training and Staff Development
- Design and facilitate training for Inclusion Support Specialists and peer support staff that emphasizes inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practices.
- Support continuous learning within teams through reflective supervision, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
Family and Community Engagement
- Develop and implement family engagement strategies that recognize and honor lived experiences, cultural contexts, and community strengths.
- Ensure families are meaningfully involved in shaping program goals and practices that support their children’s success.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in youth development, peer-based programming, mental health services, or community engagement
- Experience supervising staff and leading multi-stakeholder collaborations
- Knowledge of child welfare, juvenile justice, and public mental health systems
- Background in program design, implementation, and staff training
- Strong communication, facilitation, and relational skills
- Ability to navigate cultural humility, anti-oppression, and trauma-informed care
Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Cantonese
- Experience with the Iowa Parent Partner Model, peer programs, or systems-impacted populations
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed in a hybrid setting, including in-office, school sites, camps, and virtual meetings
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
- Ability to travel throughout San Francisco and San Mateo County

Salary Description
The Director of Inclusion and Peer Support Programs position offers a salary of $80,000 – $90,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarking for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
