Position Summary
Under the guidance of the Membership Director, the Associate Membership
Director supervises team members and provides operational support within the Membership
Department. This role manages daily operations, supports team performance, and helps
implement strategic plans. Responsibilities include supervising and supporting the Y Kids
program, supervising and supporting front desk staff, engaging with members at the front
desk and on the Wellness floor, providing tours, and supporting membership sales while
ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for all.
Schedule: Sun-Thurs 9am-5pm
Job Responsibilities
Member Services Leadership
- Provide high-level support to the Membership Director by independently
addressing complex or escalated member concerns, ensuring timely and effective
resolution - Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all membership and front desk functions
and ensure consistent service standards - Serve as a secondary supervisor for the membership team, offering coaching,
performance guidance, and support in daily operation. - Provide front desk support as needed, modeling strong relationship-building,
service excellence, and team collaboration. - Partner with the Membership Director to monitor, analyze, and help achieve
department KPIs and membership goals. - Assist with operational planning, process improvement, and team development
initiatives
Y Kids Program Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the Y Kids program, including staff scheduling,
timecard accuracy, workflow coordination, and program execution. - Ensure a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environment by
maintaining cleanliness, safety standards, and positive relationships with children,
caregivers, and members. - Review and analyze attendance trends and other program data to make informed,
recommendations regarding staffing, program design, and operational
improvements. - Communicate effectively and professionally with program staff to support smooth
program operations. - Ensure all Ykids staff complete required training and provide equitable care for all
children. - Collaborate with the Membership Director on the development, planning, and
implementation of new youth programs that engage families and strengthen the
branch community
General Responsibilities
- Participate actively in site, department, branch, and association-wide events
- Demonstrate openness to feedback, applying constructive guidance to improve
performance and service quality. - Complete all required training and Y-USA e-Learning prior to the first scheduled shift.
- Attend and/or lead team meetings, trainings, and program development sessions as required
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Availability to work weekends and flexible hours to support program operations
(schedule includes at least one weekend day per week). - Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with youth.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- YMCA-approved CPR/First Aid certification (required within 90 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional and community experience.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish
Work Environment & Physical Demands
The Associate Membership Director works in a dynamic, member-focused environment that
requires frequent movement throughout the branch, including the lobby, Wellness floor,
offices, and Y Kids program areas. The role involves regular interaction with members,
children, caregivers, and staff in active, and sometimes noisy, settings. Work may occur
both indoors and occasionally outdoors during programs or events. Evening and weekend
hours are required to support operational needs and provide consistent leadership coverage
- Move around the facility frequently, including walking, standing, and engaging with
members and staff for extended periods. - Lift, bend, and carry items such as program supplies, cleaning materials, or
equipment up to approximately 25–40 pounds on occasion. - Assist in maintaining safe program spaces, including setting up or resetting rooms,
moving lightweight furniture, or ensuring equipment is properly stored. - Interact with children at various physical levels, including kneeling, sitting on the
floor, or standing for supervision and engagement in Y Kids. - Use a computer and related technology for scheduling, communication, reporting,
and administrative tasks. - Communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via email to support safe and
effective membership and youth program operations

Salary Description
The Associate Membership Director position offers a compensation range of $71,300 to
$74,000 per year. This rate is based on salary benchmarking for similar roles and is aligned
with grant fund approvals and requirements for the position.
