Position Summary
Join the Stonestown Family YMCA team as the Academic Coordinator of Youth Programs, where you’ll lead a dedicated team in designing impactful learning environments for elementary students (TK-5th grade). This role offers the opportunity to inspire young learners, collaborate with community partners, and drive positive outcomes across multiple school sites.
The Academic Coordinator of Youth Programs will work closely with school administrators and YMCA leadership to set site-specific academic goals. They connect with community organizations to bring relevant resources and opportunities to each school. This role plays a vital part in supporting the YMCA’s mission to nurture youth development and community engagement while upholding the YMCA’s core values. The position requires on-site presence at the branch, office, or school sites to maintain strong collaboration and program oversight.

Academic Coordinator Responsibilities
- Empower Staff and Students: Guide Academic Linked Day staff in developing academic plans, providing advising, and supporting student success.
- Program Development: Design and implement administrative and academic strategies, evaluate school site needs, and enhance educational programs and activities.
- Curriculum Oversight: Develop and refine educational curriculums, sourcing and evaluating teaching materials as needed.
- Facilitate Learning: Organize events, lead training sessions, and deliver workshops for staff, school administration, parents, and the YMCA community.
- Collaboration and Advocacy: Partner with school leaders, academic advisors, and YMCA teams to foster program effectiveness while advocating for resources to support youth and families.
- Resource Management: Maintain relationships with community organizations and compile tools to promote student retention and academic achievement.
- Compliance and Tracking: Manage attendance audits, grant tracking systems, and QAP processes, ensuring timely reporting and adherence to program requirements.
- Leadership and Safety: Uphold YMCA policies, participate in mandatory training, and contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all.
Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 + years of youth program experience including supervisory responsibilities
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and verbal/written communication skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Must be available Monday through Friday and be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Fingerprint clearance
- TB test clearance
- YMCA approved First Aid, CPR and AED certified (may complete upon hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- YMCA youth development experience
- SFUSD experience
- Budget management experience
- Bilingual in Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, or Mandarin
