OMI Family Resource Center

The OMI Family Resource Center’s mission is to empower families living in the Oceanview, Merced and Ingleside neighborhoods through services aimed at strengthening relationships, building community and fostering healthy lifestyles.

We offer a safe and welcoming environment and aim to engage families in services that build on current strengths and are respectful of each participant’s right to self-determination.
The OMI Family Resource Center has been a program of the Urban Services YMCA since August 2003. Through the tireless efforts of staff and community volunteers, the OMI FRC has established a strong community presence that has translated into drop-in services and food distribution, information, referral and service linkage, family advocacy, intensive case management, domestic violence prevention and intervention services, enhanced visitation services, educational workshops, weekly support groups to men, women, parents, and grandparents, evidence based parenting classes, parent child interactive activities, family Dinner and a Movie nights, and monthly ''Celebrating Families'' community events to over 4,000 families annually. The OMI FRC also hosts a group of parent leaders who are trained to prepare, submit, and implement Parent Action grants to positively enact change in their community.
The goals and objectives of the OMI FRC are to provide services that empower families and build community. We provide services that aim to strengthen families’ capacity for healthy development and self-sufficiency. We offer a myriad of services to families to support this goal. All our services are offered in English, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese. Our services include:
Family Advocacy/Case Management; Counseling; Support Groups; Parenting Classes; Food Pantry; Rental Assistance; Emergency Food; Educational Workshops; Parent-Child Activities; Monthly Events; Free use of our business center (including computer, fax and copier) and more…
