EPSDT and Trauma & Recovery Counseling Services
Early Periodic Screening Diagnostic Testing and Trauma & Recovery Counseling Services
An integrated school based mental health program that offers free comprehensive counseling services to youth who are either Medi-Cal eligible or have experienced trauma. Therapists work in collaboration with teachers and families to provide ongoing support and assistance for youth struggling with a variety of challenging life issues such as grief, trauma, substance abuse and gang involvement. Services include individual and supportive family counseling and are provided directly on school campus, offering easy access to services within a safe environment.
It is the mission of the EPSDT program to make mental health services more accessible to youth and families from underserved communities. Services are designed to meet the individual needs of our clients and the communities we serve. Currently, the EPSDT program offers services at 7 different schools in the Bayview Hunters Point, Western Addition and OMI Excelsior neighborhoods. EPSDT also serves San Francisco foster care youth who have been placed in a foster care home outside of San Francisco, through a satellite YMCA site in Pacifica. Our services allow more convenient access to mental health services for foster care youth and families who would normally need to travel to San Francisco to obtain approved services.
