Our Site

The YMCA Point Bonita is located in the Marin Headlands on a peninsula overlooking the entrance to the San Francisco Bay. The Marin Headlands, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), includes nearly 10,000 acres of wild coastal land.

Once a military defense area and home to the historic Point Bonita lighthouse, Point Bonita has been transformed into an outdoor education center. Former army structures are now bases for outdoor explorers! Our outdoor classroom consists of ocean beaches, rocky tide pools, wind-swept hills, a freshwater lagoon and an extensive network of the most scenic hiking trails in the Bay Area.

We cater to groups for daily, overnight, or extended stays. Our efficient, friendly staff is here to help make your meeting or retreat a productive, relaxing event. We offer tailored programs for conference and retreat groups, international groups and students of all ages.

Our full-service dining hall provides up to three delicious meals per day, prepared fresh in our kitchen. Arrangements can be made for organic, vegetarian and vegan ingredients as well as picnics, special meals and events.

If requested, our Naturalist staff can guide your guests around the 10,000 acres of adjacent national parkland in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Nearby sites to explore include: a working historic lighthouse, a marine mammal rescue center, rocky tidepools, a freshwater pond, unique migratory bird paths, historic defense installations, ocean beaches and superb trails.
