General Function
The Peninsula Family YMCA is looking for a Massage Therapist to help our members achieve their holistic health & wellness goals. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Healthy Living, the Massage Therapist is responsible for one-on-one massage therapy service. He/She will be responsible for maintaining the highest levels of customer service and professionalism while delivering safe, effective massage therapy services to members. In addition the Massage Therapist is required to provide promotional chair massage for one hour a week for their initial 3 months of hire to increase their client base at their administrative rate. Expected to collaborate with the other Massage Therapists in order to expand services.
Skills and Requirements
Know How
Massage Therapy experience and appropriate certification is mandatory. Experience working with diverse age groups is desired. The ideal candidate will be motivated, energetic, have a strong professional background in working with a wide range of ages. In addition the Massage Therapist will need to engage members and build clientele by educating the importance of massage therapy and holistic health. Proficiency in multiple types of massage therapy is desired: Swedish Relaxation Massage, Hydro Therapy, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Craneosacral Therapy, Thai Massage, etc.. Position is part-time. Must have sales experience or relative experience in self promoting programs. Massage Therapist must have reliable transportation. Prefer someone that will be with us long term and grow into the position as we continue to expand our Massage Therapy Program.
Requirements________________________________________________________
• 18 years of age
• Massage Therapy Certification from an accredited school (500 clinical hours required)
• Within six months of hire:
• Current YMCA CPR Certification
• Current YMCA First Aid Certification
• Child Abuse Prevention Training
Preferred Qualifications
• At least one (1) year of training experience preferred.
• Friendly, outgoing, adaptable.
• Good listening and communication skills are a must!
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred
