Martial Arts Instructor

General Function

The Peninsula Family YMCA is looking for an instructor to lead a beginning, intermediate, and advanced martial arts program for our youth members. Participants are 3 years and up. The instructor will be responsible for planning and implementing program activities. Instructor must have martial arts experience; teaching experience is preferred. Instructor must create at least 2 performances during the year. Expected to collaborate with the other Martial Arts Instructors on programming and curriculum.

Skills and Requirements

Requirements________________________________________________________

• 18 years of age

• Second degree black belt and above

• Within six months of hire:

• Current YMCA CPR Certification

• Current YMCA First Aid Certification

• Child Abuse Prevention Training

 

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.

• Friendly, outgoing, adaptable.

• Good listening and communication skills are a must!

• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

• Bachelor of Arts in Education or related field preferred

• Certification from an accredited Personal Training or Group Exercise organization preferred

Know How

Martial Arts experience background is mandatory. Experience working with children is desired. The ideal candidate will be motivated, energetic, have a strong professional background in dance, experience teaching a wide range of ages, and a passion for teaching life skills to young people through the dance. Classes include curriculum in Kenpo, Kempo, Taekwondo, Jiu Jitsu, Aikido, Capoeira, Boxing, Mixed-Martial-Arts and other types of Martial Arts . Must be able to teach basics in all styles. Position is part-time. Instructors must have reliable transportation. Prefer someone that will be with us long term and grow into the position as we continue to expand our Martial Arts programming.
