Who We Are

The Peninsula Family YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of San Francisco, builds strong kids, strong families and strong communities by enriching the lives of all people in spirit, mind and body.

Who We Are:

  • A charitable, non-profit 501(C)3 raising contributions from hundreds of individuals, corporations and philanthropic foundations each year.
  • We offer accredited pre-school programs and respected day care, childcare services and after school enrichment activities throughout San Mateo county.
  • We are a trusted partner with government agencies and other non-profit organizations. We successfully operate social services through our Youth Service Bureau sites, including mentoring programs, at-risk youth programs, middle and high school safety programs, all to help youth reach their fullest potential.
  • We offer a variety of active older adult fitness and social programs in addition to arthritis, special needs and cancer recuperation programs.
  • We create positive life long memories for hundreds of youth through our summer and specialty camp programs.
  • Our YMCA tailors its programs and services focusing on bettering the lives of kids and teens, improving health and connecting community residents to meet the needs of its local service area.

Who We Really Are:

The Peninsula Family YMCA this past year served over 11,000 people including 3500 youth and families who are participants in our Youth Service Bureau Community Social Service programs.

Through these programs:

  • Over 200 youth and their families have been tutored, participated in sports, crafts and computer technology activities while developing their character in our safe and innovative Half Moon Bay Enrichment Centers.
  • Over 2500 youth and their families have received critical clinical mental health support in 53 San Mateo County schools and our 3 mental health clinics.
  • Over 1200 middle and high school youth in crisis received critical prevention and intervention services by our mental health professionals.
  • Just under 700 youth were involved in drug and alcohol related issues.
  • About 120 youth were assessed and treated as potential suicide victims (46 were hospitalized).
  • Just under 100 youth were treated for rape and sexual assault activity.
  • 32 youth were treated for molesting and/or sexually assaulting their peer.
