Afterschool Care

Yesterday your child was afraid to go to the "big school."
Today the school is not big enough for their imagination.
The Mission YMCA Afterschool program at Sunnyside is a vital part of the community. We want to help you build a stong family by being there when you need us! At the Mission YMCA, we strive to make sure that every child’s day brings about bigger and brighter achievements – but we can’t do it alone! Your support ensures that many children who otherwise would not be able to afford YMCA programs and services are included.

Yesterday we had nine kids and a shared space.
Today We have 35 kids, a waitlist, 3 staff, and a space dedicated to the YMCA.
Our program at Leonard R. Flynn is focused on meeting the individual needs of our families through open communication, and cooperation. We offer structured activities, sports, and child directed activities to provide time for social growth and interaction. School Age Afterschool Child Care
Kinder to 5th Grade
The Mission YMCA provides quality, affordable after school hours - school age child care for children and youth attending elementary schools in the Mission and Sunnyside neighborhoods.
We provide a nutritious snack and a well-rounded curriculum that is designed to challenge and entertain your children and help them realize their full potential. Homework assistance is provided each afternoon, Monday through Thursday.
We strive to promote the development of each child’s physical, emotional, and social needs on a developmentally appropriate level and in a stimulating multi-faceted environment. We encourage individuality, decision-making, and understanding and respect for others. Our childcare fosters development of the total child and nurtures the core values of honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility.
