Pee Wee Sports.
This is a great opportunity for children to start their lifelong sport experience on the right foot. We use fun activities to teach children the basic fundamentals of sports and focus on development instead of competition. Children have the opportunity to learn in a fun and caring environment with other children of their own age.

Gymnastics Club.
The Mission YMCA’s Artistic Gymnastics program aims to enhance physical fitness through acrobatics, mastering different apparatuses. Students learn cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility and balance. This program not only educates students on physical awareness, but also promotes personal and social responsibility within the sport of gymnastics and in life.

EXCELSIOR SPORTS CLUB
The Excelsior Sports Club is a network of outstanding agencies working together to support and promote the health of the Excelsior youth through sports and physical activities. We are a partnership of community sports providers and neighborhood facilities that broker existing resources, advocate for neighborhood needs and provide increased access to sports opportunities within in the community. Bay Area SCORES
Bay Area SCORES is an after-school program that offers soccer, literacy enrichment and homework help to students in grades 3-5. Activities are two hours, five days a week and include a “game day” with other schools. This is an opportunity to get your child active by playing soccer, writing poetry, completing homework and participating in a fall poetry slam. This 12-week program is free of charge, but has a limited enrollment of 15 students per boys and girls team, so act fast! Days and times vary per school site.

ESC Young Achievers
ESC Young Achievers program is an after-school program for 1st-2nd grade students. The program runs Monday-Friday for 2.5 hours a day engaging youth in a variety of activities. Daily homework help is offered along with arts & crafts activities, learning traditional sports and exploring non-traditional games. One day a week, the girls attend the Girl Scouts program where girls learn about health and nutrition through a variety of games, arts & crafts projects and exercise activities. One-on-one academic enrichment by a young female role model is also included. One day a week the boys attend Discovery Club, where boys learn about culture, the environment and work as a team through games, activities and group discussions. This is a FREE program with the capacity to serve 35 students.

Excelsior Boys & Girls Club
Offering after-school programming Monday-Friday from 3:30pm-8pm for youth ages 6-18. Activities include homework lab, sports leagues, gym activities, art & crafts, music and more. For specific program schedules please contact Tone Moreno or Tahmal Fleming at 334-2582.
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is an after-school running program for girls in grades 3-5 to help build self-esteem and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. This 10-week program meets twice per week for 1 hour after school. The program combines training for a one-mile or 5K community Lollipop run event with uplifting workouts. The curriculum contains 20 fun, active lessons dealing with issues such as drugs and alcohol, media images, nutrition, cooperation and community. Every girl receives a t-shirt, water bottle, healthy snack at each practice and free entry into the Lollipop Run. Registration is $10 with limited scholarships available, please contact your school site coordinator for a scholarship form. At the end of the 10-weeks, the girls complete their first ever one mile or 5K distance. Days and times vary per school site.

PEP AT SUNNYSIDE
physical education program
PEP is a program of the Department of Education to expand PE classes at select school across the country. The PEP program has selected the Mission YMCA to provide Physical Education (PE) classes at Sunnyside Elementary School in accordance with California Physical Education standards. Classes are only available to Sunnyside students. Please contact the front desk for more information.
