Advanced Step
Step class taught at a higher intensity and more complex choreography than a regular step class.
Afro-Brazilian Dance
A fun-filled cardio workout performed to African rhythms. No dance experience necessary.
Ashtanga Yoga
A flowing practice that fuses elements from other hatha yoga methods. Focuses on breath and continuous movement.
Body Sculpt
A non-aerobic body conditioning class designed to strengthen and tone the major muscle groups primarily using free weights.
Boot Camp
An advanced level class that combines cardio with weights.
Cardio Fusion
A high energy combination of kick boxing, step and weights.
Cardio Light
A 50-minute aerobic class designed for beginners or for those who need a slower paced aerobic class.
Cross Training
Advanced high-energy workout that includes a fast paced warm-up, drills, sprints, abdominal work and other fitness equipment.
Cycle
Also known as "spin." This intense workout simulates an outdoor ride which may include hills, sprints, and various drills. Intermediate to advanced.
Fit on the Ball
A strength and cardio class that uses the stability ball to build muscle and balance.
Hi-Low
Traditional aerobics. High intensity with a combination of high and low impact moves - you decide which is for you.
NIA
A low impact class which creates a union of mind and body through a combination of dance, martial arts, tai chi and traditional movement. Suitable for most exercisers.
Outdoor Running
Beginning running class held outside. Meet at the Las Gallinas marsh off of Smith Ranch Road. All participants must be able to run a 15-minute mile.
Pilates
Increases core strength, improves body alignment and flexibility through controlled non-impact movements which engage both body and mind.
Running with Jen
Run outside with Executive Director Jennifer Smith. Meet in front of the Marin YMCA.
Sit & Be Fit
Light cardiovascular, strengthening and toning exercises utilizing weights to enhance mobility and flexibility. Performed in or with the assistance of a chair.
Start-up Strength
Strength training with free weights and rubber resistance geared towards new exercisers or older adults.
Step
A cardiovascular workout which involves stepping on and off an adjustable platform.
Stretch
Designed to improve flexibility and reduce stress through gentle stretching of the major muscle groups.
Tai Chi
An ancient Chinese moving meditation to improve balance, flexibility and cardiovascular function. Beginning to advanced level classes are offered.
Yoga
Yoga promotes strength through flexibility and emphasizes the body, mind, and spirit. Suitable for all. Style depends upon instructor
Level I-Beginner: New or fairly new to Yoga. Learn proper poses, alignment and breathing techniques.
Level II-For those with a good understanding of Yoga, with at least one year of practice.
Gentle Yoga-Yoga at a gentle pace. Great for those with movement restrictions or for more advanced student looking for a quieter, more reflective experience.
Zumba
An aerobic, total body workout with the hottest rhythms and moves.
