From Boot Camp to Yoga
The Embarcadero YMCA offers classes for participants at every fitness level. The Cycle Studio across from Member Services on the first floor is a cool place for group cycling with 3-5 classes per day. The Activity Pool on the second floor has classes for all: from Aqua Running for triathlon training to Arthritis Foundation Aqua Exercise for those who want to safely work their joints. Studio Three on the third floor is where members go to get their blood moving with high-intensity cardio and dance classes like cardio-kickboxing and Zumba. BOSU classes integrate movement with balance training and the Wellness Studio on the fourth floor hosts martial arts classes, yoga and Pilates.
Athletic Workouts: From our ever popular Boot Camp to our high energy Cardio Kick and Ballast Blast classes, these vigorous group exercise offerings ensure improvements in stamina, strength, power, speed, coordination, and agility. Get fit fast!
BodyWorks: These conditioning classes use resistance tubing, hand weights, or stability balls called Ballast Balls. Increase muscle, endurance and body tone with these resistance training classes. Classes may emphasize specific types of conditioning like core strengthening.
BOSU Balance Training: These dome-shaped devices challenge balance while providing cardiovascular, strength, and agility training. Instructors are specially trained to integrate balance challenges into classes.
Dance Fitness: Try these dance-based fitness classes with easy-to-learn instruction like Hip-Hop, Zumba and Sans-a-Barre (a fusion of ballet and Pilates).
Step Fitness: This classic cardio-respiratory group exercise is a perennial favorite for high-energy, low-impact workouts using variable height step platforms.

Please arrive early to sign up
Enrollment begins 30 minutes prior to the start of each class. Look for sign-in log outside of the studio. All classes are mixed level unless otherwise noted. Come prepared with water and towel. Mats and props are provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own mats. It is highly recommended to attend several beginning yoga classes before entering a mixed-level class.
Did you know your membership comes with free yoga classes? Pilates too!
Head upstairs to the fourth-floor Wellness Studio. Grab a mat and a spot and stretch your horizons, your body and your fitness expectations! We welcome participants of all levels.
Pilates Mat: Pilates can complement your current workout of any sport: cycling, basketball, weight training, group exercise classes, running, swimming, and more. The core musculature surrounding the abdomen and back is active in just about everything: sitting, standing, bending, and twisiting. Pilates increases core strength and stability while working the entire body. These mat classes will strengthen and lengthen your body through a series of exercises. You'll see an improvement in posture, release of tension in joints, and enhanced flexibility and coordination.
Yoga: Yoga classes use mind and body techniques for relaxation and rejuvenation while promoting flexibility, balance, self awareness and strength. We offer six different yoga approaches to fit your style.
One of the best body conditioning classes out there!

Studio Cycling
Indoor cycling incorporates the physiological and biomechanical science of cycling with the motivational techniques of sports psychology to bring aerobic and anaerobic training to a whole new level. Some classes are one full hour, power-packed intervals, aggressive climbs and drills that will push you to your endurance edge. Others are slightly shorter but still leave you drenched in sweat.
From Aqua Fitness to Aqua Running, we have every fitness level covered in the water

Pilates Reformer Training conditions the whole body. It is a movement system designed to train the body for efficient, graceful movement, helping you enjoy daily activities and sports with greater ease and reduced risk of injury. It is also the essence of core conditioning. As you strengthen the core musculature, we expect you to notice immediate changes in posture and the way you move daily.
Because we realize personal attention is important when learning a repertoire, we offer one-on-one sessions to those who need more specialized and focused work. For those who enjoy the support of a buddy and like to share the time and cost of a trainer, we offer duet sessions. Finally, those who are motivated in a group and looking for a more affordable option can choose our scheduled small group sessions.
Our Pilates trainers use a team approach to mind-body fitness goals. Each has extensive training in the Pilates method, and a personal approach, style, and strength.
Enrollment is simple. If you have not experienced Pilates apparatus work before, please contact the program coordinator for a free 15 to 30 minute demonstration. Then, decide what kind of sessions and how many you want, one-on-one, duet, or group. Purchase a session card through Members Services to give to your Pilates trainer at the beginning of each session so the trainer can initial as they are used.
Contact the program coordinator at 415.615.1336 who will partner you with the Pilates trainer that best matches your schedule and needs, or assign you to a regularly scheduled group session.
