LEVEL 1
SKILLS CLINIC
TUESDAYS
7:00PM - 9:45PM

The clinic is excellent for brushing up on skills from long ago, keeping skills finely tuned, or starting from scratch. It starts at 7:00pm sharp with 30 minutes of small group ball handling warm-ups, with one-on-one coaching available. An hour of various skill drills will follow, then the evening will end with over an hour of game play with instruction as needed. All are welcome!Volleyball Skills Clinic

LEVEL 2
REVERSE COED
SATURDAYS
4:00 PM - 7:45 PM

As you advance in your play, Reverse Coed is the next level of play. It requires an intermediate skill at minimun. Players will learn the reverse coed playing rules: the game has the net set at the women’s height, men may only attack the ball from the backcourt and may not block when playing the front row.

LEVEL 3
INT/ADVANCED PLAY
WEDNESDAYS
6:30 PM - 9:45 PM
This competitive level of play is fast paced and geared towards experienced volleyball players (Skill levels will be evaluated). Players must have command of skills and be fluent in complex offenses. Games will be run with different offenses, plays and rotations.

TREASURE ISLAND (OPEN PLAY)
FRIDAY Intermediate/Advanced
6PM–8:45PM
SATURDAY Beginner/Intermediate
12PM–3PM

Every Saturday afternoon on the Embarcadero YMCA's basketball court, that familiar “chirp” of high tops is replaced by the crunch of wheels during Wheelchair Rugby Group Exercise class.

Saturdays 1 pm - 3 pm

Extra wheelchairs available

Contact Nils Jorgensen: 415-615-1355 or email

The game is a cross between bumpercars, hockey and football, played by athletes in wheelchairs with a volleyball.

Sometimes called "Murderball" after the movie of that name, it can be rough but what brings these athletes onto the court is the chance to play a team sport in a welcoming environment.

Watching the players, it’s clear who has played before and who is using a loaned wheelchair for the first time. Longtime wheelchair users have a distinct advantage over their “able-bodied” team members as they cross the court to pass, roll and score.

Coach Jorgensen is a champion wheelchair athlete in the national Quad Rugby Hall of Fame. He calls it a group exercise class rather than a “special needs” program because he doesn’t think there’s anything “special” about chasing people down the basketball court and getting sweaty.
