Participation in a free swim clinic is determined on a first come, first serve basis. Meet on the pool deck at 6pm and find Cynthia. The aquatics department also offers beginner through advanced levels group swim instruction as well as private lessons. Adult lesson flyers & our web site have lesson schedules and fees. Clinic Descriptions
Butterfly
Learn the rhythm and technique for this exhausting but beautiful stroke.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 meters any stroke.
Backstroke
Learn the stroke where you get to breathe the whole time!
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25 meters any stroke.
Breaststroke
Improve your breaststroke through drills and technique tips. Break the stroke down into its basic components, focusing on each step to improve your rhythm, stroke efficiency, and speed.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25 meters any stroke.
Freestyle pull
Learn an efficient freestyle pull that will propel you through the water.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25 meters freestyle.
Freestyle bilateral breathing
You could swim forever if only you didn’t have to breathe! Learn how to get enough air while turning your head to both sides to breathe.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25 meters freestyle.
Freestyle kick (flutterkick)
You're kicking as hard as you can but you don't go anywhere! Learn how to improve your kick.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25 meters freestyle.
Flip turns
Want to improve your flip turn or learn how to do one? Learn how to time your turns and push off in the most efficient way possible.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 meters freestyle.
Equipment 101
What is all that stuff out there on the pool deck? Why would you use a pull buoy, paddles, or fins? Learn the ins and outs of swim gear.

Synchronized Swimming
Learn how to skull and do a ballet leg. Beginners welcome!
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 meters any stroke.
Water Polo
The pool's not deep but we can practice throwing and basic polo skills. Try your hand at water polo even if you've never tried it before. Gain exposure, learn game play and technique, or just get in to throw some balls around. Beginners welcome!
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 100 meters.
Open water workout
Prepare for the bay with this technical workout. Practice sighting techniques and strategies for swimming in open water.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 meters.
