Y-Projects

Makin’ beats, bustin’ rhymes.

Self-expression is crucial for healthy youth development. Our teens love to express themselves in our program, and our Teen Program has the perfect outlet for them: a series of beat-making, DJing, lyric writing, video/music production and music business courses that can not only show students how to make their own unique sound but also how to mix it properly and turn it into something they can share – or sell – to others.

These classes, offered once or twice almost every day of the week, are open to all of our teens, and teens in the program are also free to use the music lab, where we have two state of the art Mac workstations fully equipped with a multimedia suite including a keyboard, video production software, audio mixing tools like Protools and Reason and the image editing software Photoshop.

Y-Projects is the Shih Yu-Lang Central’s very own youth-led music production company and the culmination of our music students’ creativity. You can listen to their solid beats and fluid rhymes at www.yprojects.org, where two of our own resident rap groups, Risin’ 2 The Top and Tha Giantz, can be found. Or you can get involved yourself – contact J.D. Francis for more information.
