Teen Program

Fostering the hopes and dreams of our teens is the key to the future.

With so many possibilities open to them, teens need to be supported and encouraged to pursue their highest aspirations. Here at the Y we have a large, dedicated teen program that is both life-changing for teens and totally free for their families. Our Teen Program is open to teens from 3-8 PM every day and 2-7 PM on Saturdays, giving teens many opportunities to get help with school work, meet new friends, find community through our discussion groups, and learn new skills that allow them to express themselves through art, music and writing.

The program starts at 3:30, when teens can get homework help if they need it. From 4-6 PM, a range of activities are offered to teens including tutoring, art classes, cooking classes, a State Your Opinion’ discussion group, beat-making classes and girls’ and boys’ groups where youth can discuss sensitive issues openly. At 6, teens eat a healthy, homemade dinner prepared with the help of teenage culinary class volunteers. After dinner, teens will play sports or apply their new skills to creating new music in our recording studio, doing homework or just relaxing with friends.

The teen program also features activities like field trips and career panels which open their eyes to places and occupations that they might not have had exposure to before. All in all, it’s a wonderful program and a great opportunity for teens. Contact J.D. Francis, Director of Youth Programs, here for more information or enrollment.
