Culinary and Nutrition Classes

Chop, boil, and chow down on some good food – our classes show you how!

Our culinary classes, part of both the Junior and the Teen program, show the youth how to whip up delicious yet healthy meals that all their peers will love. Our volunteer cooking staff provides excellent tutorials on a wide range of dishes – including some the students have never experienced before!

These classes cover all of the essentials of food preparation (cutting, dicing, etc.), kitchen safety (“Don’t run with that knife!”), nutrition (though we’ll still occasionally make cookies…), and clean-up. Our Juniors also have a separate Healthy Choices class on how to eat right and maintain proper nutrition. Students in the teen cooking class help to prepare a nightly dinner for the teens and the juniors alike. Bon appetite!
