Volunteer
You make the difference. We just show you the way.
Volunteering at the YMCA is the best way to truly discover our community. Our volunteers have a diverse, rich history of involvement, coming from all places and backgrounds and each bringing their own motivations for helping out. All of them are wonderful people that you can meet by volunteering here yourself. We have a place for volunteers of all ages, regardless of physical abilities or how much time you can commit. If you have a desire to help and change your community for the better, come and get involved!
The Building Futures Mentoring Program is an excellent way to make an immediate impact on a youth’s life. In this program, adults aged 23 and up are paired with an at-risk youth from 6-18 years old confronted with low self-esteem, social isolation, family problems or other difficult issues. Mentors spend 1-3 hours a week with the youth to help them build more positive, consistent and nurturing relationships with adults while bringing them greater self-esteem, academic confidence and a healthy social life. The mentor gains, in turn, personal satisfaction and the feeling of having made a difference on the community and on the budding life of a youth.
Many of our volunteer opportunities are listed on the website in the volunteer section. You can also contact Leslie Truong, Volunteer Coordinator, here if you have any additional questions or specific ideas of what you want to do to volunteer.
