Nature Journaling *
Journaling is a relaxing way to make sense of your daily life, to preserve your memories, explore your talents or learn more about nature. Join Jen Clink for a hike though Camp Jones Gulch trails to the pond where you will learn about the art of nature journaling. Participants will be given a nature journal to help capture short stories, poems, drawings or inspirational ideas.
Nature Boot Camp(NBC)
Boot camp in the outdoors means pushing our physical bodies, while benefiting from all the additional emotional relief, energy, and support that nature offers. With de-stressing as a major consideration, in addition to the physical exercise, we will start at the beginning and work up to a significantly more intense circuit as we go through three sessions that will become increasing more difficult.
For all sessions:
- Wear running/workout shoes with lug type soles (no smooth soles, please),
- comfortable but “down and dirty” workout clothes – long pants, long-sleeves for protection. We may get down on the ground.
- Bring a water bottle and pocket snacks, please.
NBC Level 1 – Coach Stephanie will start us moving right away and introduce each exercise at an outdoor location conducive to that movement. The goal will be to learn proper form and discover exercise creativity by working out in nature. This initial session will focus on the how and why of each exercise, spending time talking through the movement and practicing. We will walk or jog from point to point, then stop to do a new exercise. Anyone who can be mobile for 75 minutes can benefit from this workshop and will not feel out-ranked.
If you have not learned proper form for exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, and planks, this session will help you gain confidence and knowledge in how to do these exercises correctly while also being able to enjoy our incredible surroundings.
NBC Level 2 – This afternoon session will review proper form for the exercises described in Session 1, at the beginning of the session, but will head out and continue moving at a moderate pace for the entire session. You may walk or jog between each point. This session can be a continuation of the morning workshop or a starting point for women who already workout and are familiar with the exercises. Please review Session 1 for general details.
NBC Level 3 – We will start off jogging and put in a solid 75 minutes of outdoor boot camp. The assumption is that you have participated in one or both of the previous workshops or work out on a regular basis, and are ready to push yourself. This circuit style boot camp will move continuously, ending with a trail run back to our starting point. For adventurous women who think breathing hard and sweating are what make life fun! Must have water or energy drink and pocket snacks.
Nature Connection! The Wild Within*
The workshop is designed for you to come out and explore nature up close and in person! While their will be some similarities to a few of the activities from What’s Out There, this session is all about YOU getting back into nature in a very experiential way. This session will be a mix of activities that are designed to immerse you into nature with all of your senses. You might get a little dirty in this session. Wear comfy clothes and shoes for walking.
Orienteering/Map Basics*
We will begin by focusing how to use a map and compass to navigate. We will then turn you loose where you will go outside and try your hand at navigating in the woods!
Join your guide for a hike beginning at the trailhead near the Redwood Hall. This two-mile hike, which crosses Jones Gulch, winds through the redwood forest and ends at the falls, is a great way to clear your mind and get a little exercise!
Ropes Course*($)
Find out how balanced your life is! You’ll have a chance to explore the ropes and cables in our high ropes course while up to 40 feet in the air. End your session with an exciting 40-foot rappel to the ground. Dress warmly because this class takes place outdoors, and we won’t cancel unless we have a severe rain.
Tai Chi/ Chi Gong 101
This brief introduction to Tai Chi and Chi Gong will allow you to experience some of the movements of Tai Chi and Chi Gong. It’s a great way to start your day, loosen up, and get the energy flowing! We will do a warm up routine, learn a few of the moves from the Yang Short Form, and then learn a few Chi Gong exercises. You do not have to have any experience with Tai Chi or Chi Gong to attend this session. Wear comfortable clothes and you might want to bring a water bottle.
What’s Out There?*
This session is to teach you activities to bring back and share with the children, or those who act like children, in your life. It does not matter where you live, these activities can help you guide children to learn more about the word right outside their backdoors. This workshop is a great way to learn about ways for you and your children to learn together about the natural environment where you live.
Yoga
This marvelous practice is a gift to you from the ancient yogis of
Zip line
You’ll climb up to the platform, get harnessed in, jump off and soar down the zip line at an exhilarating speed!
Zumba
Turn up the heat and learn this sensational new fitness program inspired by Latin dance. Get ready to move your hips and find out how fun this exercise can be.
This is an anticipated menu, but we're adjusting it right up until your arrival. A final menu and schedule is provided upon check-in.

STEPHANIE ATWOOD
“Stephanie sure knows her stuff! Great workout…!" - Sara “Friendly people and a great coach that kicks your butt and takes care of you!” – Elke “You meet appropriate challenges.” - Melanie Stephanie Atwood founded The WOW Team in 2007 to bring coaching, camaraderie, successful training, and fitness as a lifestyle to women at all levels of ability. She has coached numerous women to push their limits and exceed their expectations through running, walking, boot camps, and the outdoors. Stephanie Atwood, M.A. is nationally certified as a long distance running coach (RRCA) and personal trainer (NASM). She has competed and coached for more than 3 decades, in North America, Asia, and Stephanie believes strongly in the “hands-on” approach to learning. “I have seen incredible things happen when an individual overcomes obstacles through her/his own effort. With some direction and encouragement from me and my team, people realize their own potential and then there’s no stopping them. People are transformed and liberated by conquering their own hidden barriers. I’ve seen it so many times. It’s wonderful teaching/supporting in this way.” |
