Who We Are
The Buchanan YMCA is a branch of the YMCA of San Francisco. Located in the Western Addition and Japantown communities, we have existed for only one purpose: to meet the needs of the community. As those needs change so has the Buchanan YMCA.
Mission
The YMCA of San Francisco builds strong kids, strong families and strong communities by enriching the lives of all the people in spirit, mind and body.
Vision
The Buchanan YMCA's vision is to be known as a community asset, recognized for quality programs that are responsive to our diverse community needs.
We offer community programs for youth & teens, and have extensive outreach programs in the communities that we serve.
In addition we are a Health & Fitness Center with state-of-the-art equipment and group exercise classes that promote healthy lifestyles for youth, adults, and seniors. As a membership organization we promote long-term relationships with members as stakeholders in the community. We promote volunteerism to assist with the delivery of life-changing programs, formulating policy, developing new service initiatives, and evaluating existing programs. We welcome you to our facility and our community.

We are directly across the street from historic Japantown. Our facility is located between Webster & Laguna Streets @ Geary Blvd. Muni bus stops (routes 22, 23) are within one or two blocks walking distance.
