The Stonestown Family YMCA is dedicated to providing our families with opportunities to be healthy in Body, Spirit and Mind. With this focus we’ve created a calendar full of activities to get our families playing together, learning together and working out together! We also offer a wide range of programming for all ages. YOUTH DANCE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Class sessions vary between 6 and 8 classes. There is no proration of fees for missed classes.
Creative Movement (ages 3-4)
This class is designed to develop pre-school age children’s motor skills and body awareness. Children will work on basic movement such as turning, hopping, rolling, and skipping. Strength and flexibility training is emphasized. The instructor encourages the children to become confident individuals and, because of this training, they will increase their ability at having good posture in and out of the class. Basic ballet positions will be taught, although this is not specifically a ballet class. Additionally, children will do activities that require them to use their imagination to practice different “animal movements.” Lastly, we will work on different movement qualities such as being graceful, and children will learn the principles of counting beats and rhythms to music. No prior dance experience is required.
Dance Basics (ages 5-8)
(3- to 4-year-olds may attend this class with instructor permission.)
In this basic level class, children will be taught beginning ballet, jazz, and ethnic dance. This class emphasizes strength and flexibility. Students will learn about different dance and music styles of the Americas, such as salsa, Afro-Haitian, reggae, funk, and hip-hop. Children will learn a choreographed dance piece that will be shown to parents the last class of each session, in our class presentation. No prior dance experience is required if your child is between 5 and 8 years old.
Intermediate Dance Basics (2) (age 9-12)
(5- to 8-year-olds may attend this class with instructor permission.)
In this intermediate level class, children will be taught beginning ballet, jazz, and ethnic dance. Designed for 9- to 12-year-olds as well as younger intermediate level dancers, this class emphasizes strength and flexibility. Students will build on skills learned in the level one class. Students will learn about different dance and music styles of the Americas such as salsa, Afro-Haitian, reggae, funk, and hip-hop. Children will learn a choreographed dance piece, which will be shown to parents the last class of each session, in our class presentation. No prior dance experience is required if your child is between 9 and 12 years old.

Birthday Parties
Let the YMCA host your next birthday party! We do the decorating, run the games & activities, and even clean-up at the end!
Party Themes: Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Group Games, Dance, & now our NEW Bounce House Party! (Bounce House parties for under 6 years old only.)
Fees Include: 45 min – 1 hour of instruction from our experienced instructors, party room, balloons, streamers and theme-related decorations, full kitchen, and set-up & clean-up of your party.
Where: Parties start & end in the YMCA Annex, activities take place either in the YMCA gym or swimming pool.
When: Sundays, either 11:30 – 1:30 or 2:00 – 4:00
Fee: 10 children or less $150
11 – 15 children $225
16 – 20 children $275
21 – 30 children $350
**Dance Parties are an additional $75-$100, Bounce House parties are an additional $50.
Due to the popularity of our Birthday Party Program, it is recommended that you request your date at least one month in advance! A 50% deposit is required when booking your party. To request a date and time, please fill out our Birthday Party Request Form
and email it to eformosa@ymcasf.org or fax it to 415-731-1456.

Kids' Night Out 2007-08
Children 5 to 11 years of age are invited to spend the night with us! On Friday evening at 7PM, kids will gather at the Stonestown Family YMCA Annex. We'll eat dinner, swim, do art projects, watch movies, and have TONS OF FUN!! Children must be picked up by 8:30AM Saturday morning, after a hearty breakfast!
Feet: $40/ program members
$38/ facility members
This program is a fundraising opportunity for our teen staff to earn credit to participate in our teen programs.
A MINIMUM OF 12 KIDS is required each evening.
Kids' Night Out will be held: Friday, April 18th!

Youth Service Bureau
(Vision/Mission)
Youth Service Bureau programs are designed to support and nurture families in the development of connected, healthy, and productive youth.

Clinic-Based Services
The Youth Service Bureau agencies provide family, group, and individual counseling services. Programs guide youth to making positive choices and support families by providing various counseling and support services. Services include, not limited to, parent education, violence prevention, anger management techniques, communication skills, and youth counseling.
To arrange for counseling, please contact your local agency. The intake coordinator will assist in scheduling by gathering the information necessary to ensure that
Counseling service fees are determined on a sliding scale basis. We also accept families with Medi-Cal coverage.
Friendship Club- A socialization group for elementary-aged youth. The youth develop relationships, conflict management skills, assertiveness skills, and learn to understand social cues utilizing games, art, and fun activities.
First STOP- A substance abuse education and prevention program. Youth will learn to identify triggers to drug/alcohol use, discuss decision making, and understanding patterns modeled in their community.
School-Based Programs
The Youth Service Bureau agencies provide on-campus counseling and case management services to schools in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. Programs are designed to meet the changing needs of the community.
C.A.L.M. (Communication And Life-skills Management) -An anger management group for youth that are acting out at school. The goals of the program are to 1) increase knowledge of anger management skills and techniques, 2) increase conflict resolution skills, 3) decrease their school disciplinary referrals, and 4) decrease their own desire towards violent behavior.
Girls United -An on-campus program addressing issues facing middle-school aged girls. The program empowers young women to create healthy relationships and avoid making self-destructive decisions, encourages leadership skills, and develops sense of responsibility in school, peer, and home environments.
Community Programs
T.E.A.C.H. (Teaching Everyone About Changing Habits) - An after school program designed to keep youth out of the juvenile justice system and prevent gang involvement. The program setting provides a safe and structured environment for youth to learn life skills, improve academic performance, develop healthy relationships, and instill hope for their future.
Building Futures -Building Futures is an one-to-one mentoring program serving youth ages 6-14 years old. Mentors provide young people with a consistent adult role model, an understanding ear, and the opportunity to solve problem. |
