The Orientation                   

Free to new members, this one-on-one session with a qualified YMCA Wellness Coach provides you with a fitness evaluation including goal setting, neutral spine assessment and optional body composition measurements. If you're a seasoned exerciser, but new to our branch, we encourage you to take advantage of this service, as we can tailor the session to meet your needs, too. An appointment is required for this one time, one-on-one session.

Personal Training  & Nutrition            

A Personal Trainer acts as a partner who can help you set up a thorough fitnessprogram in order to meet specific goals and needs.  S/he teaches you the best exercises, keeps you motivated and tracks your progress.  Our Personal Trainers get to know you and your limitations; they will push you at times to try new things and take you farther than you thought possible, but all the while with your safety and satisfaction in mind. Our Nutritionist is an expert in food and nutrition. She will help you towards good health, weight loss or weight gain through sensible food choices and proper eating.

NASM Personal Trainer, Certified Spinning Instructor

Leah Anne brings over a decade of training experience having started her career in New York City with such organizations as New Yorks Sports Club, Crunch Fitness and Equinox Fitness. She works with all types of clients and is known to have the patience of Job when it comes to teaching exercise. As a coach, Leah Anne has helped many people achieve their endurance training goals, using a periodized heart rate training program-customized to the individual. She has taken  advanced courses in Core Training, Medicine and Stability Ball training and simply loves sharing her enthusiasm and knowledge.

Dhiraj

BS Kinesiology, NASM Personal Trainer

A world class volleyball player and coach, Dhiraj has the knowledge and experience to improve your game. If your goal is to lose weight, sculpt your body, or improve the strength of your core, Dhiraj is the trainer for you. His experience, degree and certification have provided him with the tools to create dramatic and permanent changes for people of all fitness levels.

Radha

NASM Advanced Specialization Personal Trainer

With 13 + years of Personal Training under her belt, Radha believes that exercising regularly and joyfully is a big part of living a healthy, vibrant life.  As a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, with a special credential in corrective exercise, Radha can help you get on a fun and effective exercise path suited to your unique needs.  She excels in training the gym-shy, those new to exercise, post re-hab, women of all ages and anyone who simply wants to spice up an old routine.  Whether you’re young or old, Radha can assist youinchanging your attitude towards exercise so you experience it as something fun and rewarding.

Laura

NASM Personal Trainer

Specialization: Plateau busting! Laura likes helping people revise their "stale" work out routines so they can finally get the results they've been looking for. She believes "every single one of  ushas the potential to develop a strong, healthy, uniquely beautiful body." Laura became a trainer because of her passion for helping people find that potential within themselves.

Louise

YMCA Personal Trainer, Nutritionist

Louise is a Nutrition Coordinator at two public elementary schools for SFUSD.  She also teaches Nutrition, Cooking and Health Education to K-5th grade students, staff and families. In addition to one on one personal training and/or nutrition sessions for YMCA members, Louise works with the teens of the FLEX program, facilitating monthly cooking and wellnessworkshops. Are you looking for a sharper mind, increased energy and a stronger body?  Or maybe you’re trying to lose those last five pounds or gain muscle mass…With her common sense approach, Louise will motivate you and provide you with solid information so you can make lasting positive changes in your health habits.  She will work with you to create a personalized dietary or exercise profile so you will experience results!

Aaron

Richmond District YMCA Personal Trainer

A recent graduate of the Richmond District YMCA's Fitness Academy, Aaron brings his skills, strong passion for fitness and dedication to helping people to our Health & Fitness Department.  Aaron is currently taking courses through the San Francisco YMCA's Y-Fit fitness instructor training program, and is looking forward to taking either or both the ACE and NASM Personal Training exams. His experience and familiarity with our members make him a very talented and personable fitness trainer.

Karim

BS Exercise Physiology, ACSM Health and Fitness Instructor, NSCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist

Karim is a part of San Francisco State University's Exercise Physiology Graduate Program is up to date on the latest techniques to maximize your athletic potential. Fluent in French and English, Karim is very knowledgable in using various training methods to design sport-specific strength and conditioning programs to enhance performance. Whether you're currently competing or in your off-season, training for a specific event or tournament, or need a sound rehab program while returning from a sports injury, he will work with you to develop an original and engaging program that's just right for you.

Jeff

BS Adapted Physical Education (NASM Personal Trainer pending)

Through his experiences with CAL Fire, Jeff has made his passion for physical fitness a lifelong goal. Most of Jeff's knowledge stems from his background in Adapted Physical Education at San Francisco State University. With a vast amount of experience working with physical, behavioral and emotional abilities and disabilities, Jeff has a variety of training methods to work with. His main objective is to give back to the community his knowledge of getting fit no matter what the circumstances. Whatever situation you're in, Jeff will find a way to help you reach your fitness goals.

Noel

YMCA Certified Personal Trainer

Noel is a certified Yoga Instructor and Personal Trainer who has been teaching in the bay area since 1997. She is a graduate of the Advanced Studies/Teacher Trainnig program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. She is also a graduate of the Integrative Yoga Therapy Program and a certified Relax and Renew Trainer for Restorative Yoga. Noel has completed her training with the Richmond District YMCA Fitness Academy as well, and is ready to work with you to achieve your health and fitness goals.

Erin

BS Kinesiology, AFAA Certified, YMCA Certified Personal Trainer

Erin's been active in the health and wellness industry for over six years, teaching fun and effective group classes to participants of varying levels of fitness. She recently completed her studies at San Francisco State University in Kinesiology with an emphasis of Exercise Physiology and is a Richmond District YMCA Fitness Academy graduate. Erin works with all populations; whether you're new to exercise or a seasoned veteran of the gym, her talen and motivation witll take your health to new heights.

Hiking Club

returns for its 2008 Season!

This year we join forces with the Presidio Community YMCA in bringing you wonderful nature and urban hikes around the Bay Area.  Our season officially kicks off on Saturday, April 12, 2008 with an 8:00 am reception with the Parks Conservancy here at the Richmond District YMCA.  A representative from the Parks Conservancy will be leading a family (and dog) friendly hike out to Land's End and back.  Folks can choose to hike there and back,

or hike one way and take the Muni back to the

branch....for a 1:00 pm roof top BBQ.
