This is a licensed & National Afterschool Association accredited childcare program located at New Traditions Alternative School. Program serves children from K-5th grades. AM care begins at 7:30am, PM care closes at 6PM. Program activities include art, reading circles, sports/outdoor play, group games, cooking, field trips, educational activities and homework help. Registration for Fall 2008 will open to participants in early May 2008. Early registration is recommended.

Dr. William Cobb ExCEL After School Learning Program
(Expanded Collaboratives for Excellence in Learning)
The Dr. Cobb After school Learning Program serves K-5th grades. Program hours are from 2:40- 5:40PM.This program emphasizes and promotes math and literacy building through homework help and tutorial. Other program activities include enrichment (sports, art and other group activities). This program is offered at no charge to Dr. Cobb School students.
The Buchanan YMCA and the San Francisco Unified School District collaborate to offer structured time after school for school-age children to receive a range of services that includes tutorial help, enrichment activities and recreation.
The program has 5 goals:
1. To improve literacy and math skills among African Americans, Latinos and English Language Learner students at risk of academic failure
2. Reduce isolation and improve coordination of program/services
3. Expand after school, weekend and summer enrichment opportunities for youth at risk of gang involvement and substance abuse
4. Expand access to and utilization of technology and telecommunications among youth and adults
5. Expand access to parenting education that supports positive youth and adult development
We offer this program at no cost to the parent for students who attend Dr. William Cobb Elementary School.

The New Traditions program site will be closed for the following school holidays.

Full Day programs are offered on many SFUSD staff developement days & holidays at our New Traditions site.
The full day program is open to all SFUSD students. Program fee is $35 per day. Program hours are from 7:30 am - 6 pm. The New Traditions Day Care site is located at 2049 Grove Street in the Leroy Neiman Youth Arts Center bungelow (at the back of the school on Hayes Street between Cole and Clayton).
